For Duchess Meghan, George Clooney is proving to be a real prince. The “Catch-22” actor is coming to the royal’s defense, again.

During an interview with “Good Morning Britain” Friday, Clooney spoke out against how Meghan has been portrayed in the media.

“It’s a little unfair at times, you know, I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing,” he said, “and it seemed to me a little unjust since she hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”

Clooney, who attended the former “Suits” star’s wedding to Prince Harry in May, with his barrister wife Amal, continued with words of praise for Meghan.

“She’s a really kind and smart, intelligent young woman, and they’re a really wonderful, loving couple,” he said.

“Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to,” he added, “but sometimes it’s unkind…”

It was only the latest royal-defending remarks by Clooney, a well-known critic of tabloid tactics and paparazzi. But the venue he chose, “Good Morning Britain,” was unusual given that one of the key hosts on the breakfast-TV show is Piers Morgan, among the loudest Meghan critics in the British media. (Clooney was interviewed by different hosts, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins, on Friday.)

A former tabloid editor and still a columnist for the tabloid Daily Mail, Morgan has been criticizing his one-time social-media pal Meghan since last year when he accused her of being a “ruthless social climber” who had “ghosted” him once she met Prince Harry. Lately, he’s taken to mocking Harry as a “puppet” of Meghan who’s been disagreeably changed by his wife’s influence, in Morgan’s view.

On Tuesday, the Clooneys attended a dinner in honor of the charity The Prince’s Trust, which Prince Charles hosted at Buckingham Palace. Clooney described the event as “nice.”

“Charles got really crazy and started dancing on the tables, and I was surprised to see that,” he deadpanned. “He had such good dance moves.”

Last month Clooney compared Meghan’s media coverage to that of Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash while being pursued by paparazzi in 1997. Multiple investigations later found that Diana died because her driver was drunk, he was driving too fast in order to evade paparazzi, and she was not wearing a seat belt.

Clooney told reporters Meghan is “a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself.”

Rumors have swirled about tensions between Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate, the wife of Prince William, Diana’s elder son. The buzz led to a TLC special, which aired on Feb. 5, titled “Kate v Meghan: Princesses at War?”

Recent reports claim Meghan is demanding and difficult, a diva who is peremptory with the staff and bossy to Harry, and way too American in her approach to her new role.

But the “feud” rumors have been quieting, partly because the royal sisters-in-law have appeared in public together twice in recent weeks and showed no signs of any tension.
